Custom Silicone Overmolding On Substrate Materials By Minnesota Rubber and QMR Plastics Provides Numerous Benefits To Medical Product Designers -- Surface Finish Options Range From Lubricious To Tacky

Custom Silicone Overmolding On Substrate MaterialsMinneapolis, Minnesota: Medical product designers have a new option available to them with Minnesota Rubber and QMR Plastics' Silicone Overmolding Processes. Using unique Silicone formulations, surface finishes can be designed specifically for the medical application requirement, from extremely lubricious to very tacky.

Overmolded to a wide range of substrates including stainless steel, aluminum, PEEK® and Radel®, these unique Silicone formulations by Minnesota Rubber and QMR Plastics add features previously difficult or impossible to incorporate in medical product designs.* A lubricious surface finish, for example, can facilitate insertion of a medical instrument. A slightly tacky surface, in contrast, can improve grips of surgical instruments for tactile sensitivity and better instrument control. Many of these custom Silicone formulations have superior impact resistance and all are autoclavable.

Numerous other design benefits are available utilizing Minnesota Rubber and QMR Plastics' Silicone Overmolding services. Some of these include micro to macro molding capabilities from miniature components to very large parts, selection from a full range of Silicone material durometers, custom colorization of components, conductive or insulated Silicone materials, and many more. Many of Minnesota Rubber and QMR Plastics' Silicone formulations are USP Class 6 and ISO 10993 implantable grade materials.

Minnesota Rubber and QMR Plastics is an EN ISO 13485:2003 certified supplier with program management and quality management systems to serve the medical device industry. The company provides design assistance, molding, assembly and inspection along with secure barcode packaging to ensure material lot and part traceability for FDA Class I, II and III products.
